Welcome to the Hefti Lab

As a neuropathologist, the overall theme of my lab is to identify new hypotheses in human brain tissue and translate them into animal and cell culture systems. My lab focuses on studying brain development to better understand the origins of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s. Because I work with human post-mortem brain tissue, I have a strong interest in brain banking and am also the medical director for the Iowa Neuropathology Resource Laboratory, which provides brain tissue and neuropathology services to the Iowa neuroscience research community and nationally.
